This is probably a bozzetto for the ‘Adoration of the Shepherds’ in the National Gallery, Prague. This painting was identified by Alessandro Ballarin as a key work produced by Jacopo Bassano around 1575. The painting style of our picture is too fluent and spontaneous to be considered a copy after the Prague painting, particularly considering the evident quality of the work.
